Folegandros can be reached by plane to Santorini or Athens and then by ferry to the island. The nearest airport is Santorini National Airport (JTR), and from there, visitors can take a ferry from Athinios Port to Folegandros.


Metsovo

The nearest airport to Zagorochoria is Ioannina National Airport (IOA), located about 25 km away. Visitors can also fly to Thessaloniki International Airport (SKG) or Athens International Airport (ATH) and then take a bus or car to Zagorochoria.


Mycenae

The most convenient airport to reach Mycenae is the International Airport of Athens, which receives flights from all Greek islands and abroad. From Athens, you can go to Mycenae by rental car or by bus from Kifissos Bus Station (via Argos or Nafplion)

Gavdos

If you're looking for a more offbeat destination, consider visiting the island of Gavdos, located south of Crete. This remote island is home to just a few hundred residents and is known for its unspoiled natural beauty, including secluded beaches and rugged cliffs.

Gavdos is a remote island located at the southernmost point of Greece. To get to Gavdos, the closest airports are Chania and Heraklion airports in Crete.

From Chania airport, you can take a taxi or bus to Chania port, which is about 15 km away. Daily ferry services are from Chania port to Gavdos during the summer months. From Heraklion airport, you can take a taxi or bus to Heraklion port, which is about 5 km away. Daily ferry services are from Heraklion port to Gavdos during the summer months.

The ferry journey from Chania or Heraklion to Gavdos takes around 3-4 hours, depending on the weather and sea conditions. It is also possible to reach Gavdos from other nearby islands such as Crete, Kithira, or even Libya. However, the ferry services to Gavdos are less frequent and may not be available throughout the year.


Meteora

Last but not least, no trip to Greece is complete without a visit to the stunning region of Meteora. These towering rock formations, located in central Greece, are home to several historic monasteries and offer breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.

Meteora can be reached by air through the airports of Athens or Thessaloniki. Visitors can take a domestic flight from Athens to the nearby airports of Volos, and Kozani. From Thessaloniki, visitors can take a domestic flight to the nearby airport of Kozani or drive approximately 3 hours to reach the area. Once in the area, visitors can reach Meteora by car, bus, or taxi.

Getting to these hidden gems is easier than you might think. With many airlines offering direct flights to Greece, hopping on a plane and exploring is simple to reach even the most remote destinations easily. And once you're there, a rental car or public transportation will allow you to easily reach even the most remote destinations.
