History:
Airport History
Opened in 1970 to serve the remote Dodecanese island. The current 12,500 m2 terminal was inaugurated in 2009 to facilitate the growing international interest. It remains a strategic point in the SE Aegean, often serving as a technical stop or emergency field due to its long 2,399m runway relative to other island airports.
