History

Airport History

Opened in 1977 to replace the aging Rhodes Maritsa Airport. A new terminal was added in 2005, and significant modernization was completed by Fraport Greece in 2021, including a total redesign of the terminal layout and apron.

Infrastructure ownership remains with the Hellenic State.
