History:

Airport History

Named after the 18th-century Cretan rebel Ioannis Daskalogiannis. The airport has served as a joint civil-military facility since 1954 and is home to the 115th Combat Wing of the Hellenic Air Force. It was privatized in 2017, followed by a major €110 million modernization project by Fraport Greece that nearly doubled the terminal size and modernized the aircraft parking stands.
