History
Airport History
Opened in 1992 to improve connectivity for the largest island in the Cyclades. For decades, it was restricted by a 900m runway. As of early 2026, the airport has undergone a significant upgrade, including a runway extension to 1,200m and the addition of two new aircraft parking positions to accommodate the surge in domestic tourism.
