History:
Airport History
After decades of planning and construction through difficult rocky terrain, the airport finally opened in August 2006. Its opening was a major milestone for the "Sponge Divers' Island," significantly reducing the reliance on the ferry from Kos. It has become a crucial gateway for the world-renowned rock climbing community that flocks to Kalymnos every year.
