History
Airport History
The airport began operations in 1991 as a civilian enclave within the 111th Combat Wing of the Hellenic Air Force. A brand-new, modern passenger terminal was inaugurated in 2010 to promote tourism in the Magnesia region and provide an alternative to the major hubs of Athens and Thessaloniki.
