History:
Airport History
Opened in May 1963. It is named after Aristarchos of Samos, the ancient Greek astronomer who first proposed the heliocentric model. Privatized in 2017 under Fraport Greece, the airport underwent a massive renovation in 2021, which included a terminal expansion, a new fire station, and a complete remodeling of the apron area to enhance safety and capacity.
