Airport History
Established in 1959. In 2012, it was named after Captain Vassilis Constantakopoulos, the pioneer of modern tourism in the region. As of 2026, the airport is in a pivotal stage, with a major tender for its long-term privatization and expansion currently underway to transform it into a major international hub for Southern Greece.
