According to statistics from Eleftherios Venizelos, Athens Airport experienced a remarkable surge in passenger traffic during May, marking a 23.4% increase compared to 2022 (a year heavily impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic) and an impressive 11.1% rise compared to the pre-pandemic year of 2019. Both domestic and international passenger numbers exceeded 2022 levels, showcasing growth of 20.6% and 24.8%, respectively.

When compared to 2019, the numbers are equally encouraging, with domestic and international passengers witnessing an increase of 15.6% and 9.1%, respectively.

Overall, during the first five months of this year, the airport's passenger traffic reached 9.15 million, representing a significant 39.9% rise compared to 2022 and a notable 5.9% increase compared to 2019. Furthermore, compared to 2019, domestic and international flights increased by 8% and 1.3%, respectively.
