The successful cultural action of EXAAA bid farewell to the travelers before their departure from Athens, with the brilliance of ancient Greek writing.
On June 21 at 12:00, on the occasion of the summer solstice, the theatrical events entitled "Stones Speak" were hosted at the Athens International Airport (Departures Level - Entrance 3). The event was held with the cooperation of EXAAA, AIA and the artistic contributors of the action - as a pleasant surprise that awaited the departing passengers at the Airport - on the occasion of the official welcome of the summer. The action was completed in the area of the airport Museum where the permanent exhibition of archaeological findings discovered in Mesogaia and dating from the Neolithic and Proto-Helladic to the Post-Byzantine period is hosted.

Five young actors presented - accompanied by live music - excerpts from the leading texts of ancient Greek literature, in the form of an original theatrical play, directed by Efis Theodorou. The speech of Thucydides, Sophocles, Plato, Aristotle and Homer shined anew, sending the timeless message of the incomparable charm of the classics, which constitute our precious heritage and have made Greek culture beloved throughout the centuries throughout the world.
The President of EXAAA, Ms. Lambrini Karanassiou Zulovits, stated among other things: "The "ancients" are not a museum case, as was proven today by the action "The stones speak". On the contrary, it is an inexhaustible affair, which constantly produces stimuli, ideas, feelings and emotions in people of all ages and nationalities. By investing in the "old" we rediscover the "modern". By projecting the past, we enhance the present in all its wondrous complexity and magic. Today's action at the Airport clearly highlighted the inexhaustible possibility of meeting all cultures and all languages, creating, on a symbolic level, a true crossroads of sympathy and hospitality, which only the partnership of Culture and Tourism can give birth to.
As pointed out by Mrs. Ioanna Papadopoulou, Director of Communication & Marketing of AIA, "We were very happy to welcome again this summer season at the Athens airport the special cultural activity - the event "The Stones Speak", a bridge of "connection" with the ancient Greek spirit and ancient Greek literature, for our numerous daily visitors. Especially in the new era we are in, of travelers looking for experiential experience throughout the chain of their journey, the dynamics of the destination is substantially enhanced through such inventive synergies for the promotion and highlighting of our cultural heritage. Our highly successful collaboration with EXAAA continues to walk this path, confirming in the best possible way that culture and tourism in our country are words and deeds, concepts and actions interwoven inextricably and harmoniously."
The Secretary General of EXAAA Mr. Evgenios Vassilikos added: "The complete tourist experience must be rich, multi-layered and imaginative. With this in mind, the Athens, Attica and Argosaronic Hotel Association, in collaboration with the Athens International Airport, is offering this year, for the fourth year, the action "Stones speak" to all visitors to Athens. Our goal is to prove in practice that Tourism and Culture are interrelated concepts - but also practices - that when they work together can create unique experiences and memories for the visitor. Of particular value is the modern look with which the young actors convey the vigor of the classic. We thank all partners."
It is worth noting that the Athens - Attica & Argosaronic Hotel Association is organizing for the fourth year this year the successful event "Stones speak", seeking to bring the thousands of visitors to Athens in contact with the spirit of the ancient Greek Secretariat during their visit to leading archaeological sites and museums of the city. Greatest Greek philosophers, historians and poets such as Homer, Plato, Aristotle, Sophocles, Aristophanes, and Thucydides etc. they are talking to us again. It is a type of theatrical action, staged specifically for the requirements of each venue. "Stones Speak" are presented during the months of June, July and September 2023, three times a week (Friday, Saturday and Sunday), in selected archaeological sites and museums. Each action lasts two hours and is presented by five young actors, in three different languages (New Greek, English, French), accompanied by "live" music. It is noted that the entire project is purely non-profit, with no ticket or other obligation, with free attendance by all. The only benefit is the cultural prominence and tourism development of Athens.
