ATHENS, 29 May 2026 – United Airlines is celebrating 10 years of nonstop seasonal daily service between Athens and Newark/New York. Since the first flight operated in May 2016, United’s first ever service from Greece, the airline has carried more than 830,000 passengers and over 12,250 tonnes of cargo on over 3,500 flights between Athens and Newark/New York. United’s annual seat offer between Greece and the
U.S. has grown by over 500 per cent since 2016, with the addition of daily seasonal services to Washington D.C. and Chicago O’Hare.
For Summer 2026, United is offering three daily flights from Athens to the U.S., with nonstop service to its hubs at Newark/New York, Washington D.C. and Chicago O’Hare. All United flights from Greece to the U.S. offer all-aisle access United Polaris, United Premium Plus and United Economy, including United Economy Plus seats with added legroom and increased personal space.

United’s seasonal service from Athens to Newark/New York is operated with Boeing 787-10 aircraft featuring 44 United Polaris business class lie-flat seats, 21 United Premium Plus premium economy seats, 54 Economy Plus seats and 199 standard economy seats.
United Polaris business class is a premium travel experience that prioritises relaxation and comfort, featuring quality inflight dining, amenity products from Perricone MD and Saks Fifth Avenue and full flat-bed seats with all aisle access.
United Premium Plus features a spacious seat with more legroom, elbow room and recline than a standard Economy Plus or economy seat, as well as an amenity kit, Saks Fifth Avenue blanket and plush pillow. United Economy Plus offers added legroom and increased personal space. Located near the front of the economy cabin, the seats give the added benefit of a swifter exit from the plane on arrival. Economy Plus seating is available on all trans-Atlantic flights.
United economy offers complimentary food, soft drinks, juices, beer and wine, tea, coffee and inflight entertainment. On most aircraft, seats feature an adjustable headrest and a personal on-demand entertainment system.

During the summer season 2026, United will serve over 160 destinations in 48 countries from Newark. United’s Newark hub is its largest transatlantic gateway, with service planned to 41 destinations in Europe, India, Africa, the Middle East and Greenland.
